Advantages and Disadvantages of PVC products
Advantages: good flame retardancy (flame retardancy is over 40) , high resistance to chemicals, High Mechanical Strength (resistance to concentrated hydrochloric acid, 90% sulfuric acid, 60% nitric acid and 20% sodium hydroxide acid) , low cost, good dimensional stability, good insulation. Hard polyvinyl chloride (no plasticizer added) has good mechanical strength, weather resistance and fire resistance. It can be used as structural material alone. It can be used in the manufacture of pipes, plates and injection products in chemical industry. Hard polyvinyl chloride can be used as reinforcement.
DISADVANTAGES: Poor Heat Resistance, poor light stability, processing temperature near decomposition temperature. Over 100 °C or after long time exposure to sunlight, hydrogen chloride will be decomposed, and further auto-catalytic decomposition, discoloration, physical and mechanical properties decline rapidly.
Processing defects: High plasticizing temperature, low degradation temperature, intermolecular force, melt viscosity, poor liquidity, Melt Wall viscosity serious.
